Investigating the Influence of Dam-Breach Parameters on Dam-Break Connected Flood Hydrograph

The dam-break connected flood hydrograph properties primarily depend on the breach geometry and time for to fully develop. Therefore, prediction of dam’s is essential in studies. To understand impact parameters peak hydrograph, five most common methods are implemented presented study estimate hydrographs using 2-dimensional HEC-RAS model. Ürkmez Dam chosen as case due presence a residential settlement located right at dam downstream where undesirably any body can have inevitable dramatical risks populations properties. Various levels reservoir storage investigated each method. In order assess parameter resulting hydrographs, sensitivity analysis carried out. discharge rates times analyzed scenario discussed. Results reveal that Froehlich approach reasonable method estimating dam-breach far exemplified case. Furthermore, points out side slope has no major influence while having an insignificant discharge. Besides, exhibits both characteristics highly sensitive formation parameter. light these targeted findings, aimed contribute other relevant research designating set key experimental or modeling efforts way limit uncertainty substantially originates from personal judgment.
